Finished canon project, evaluation, feedback reflection and skills development

Image
This is my finished Canon product, it is meant to represent how everyone is different, hence the "For whatever journey you take" quote.  The use of the bright colours is to represent uniqueness and also because bright colours draw you in.  How i achieved this was by pressing on colour range and then clicking on the part of the image i want to change colour. But as it only picks up shade and not an image, i had to adjust the fuzziness scale so it would minimise it down to only really the desired part of the image. If there was to much excess, i would just use the eraser tool on that layer after selecting the desired colour before clicking on solid layer > colour layer, but i thought it looked good if i left it a bit messy so i left some of it. To give it more of a 'messy effect', i also added layers with messed around saturation, brightness, colour tint etc. I then dragged one of the layers off the picture ever so lightly to add to the effect so it looks like there i...

Peer feedback from Canon print ad

Image
To receive peer feedback, I conducted a short survey on a google forms survey. This was so i have an idea on how well my print ad would do if it was released into the media. Here are the results: From looking at this feed back, I can see that this product would do well but it still needs a few more final touches such as a nicer font etc. But the feedback does seem mainly positive and the main comment on what seems to stand out about the print advert is how the bright colours were a good idea. This is good as it links to the earlier survey where I asked what draws people to print adverts and the main feedback was bright colours.

post production smile

After completing shooting the photo for my print advert, i then began editing. Firstly for this, i downloaded the picture from the sd card onto the computer. It was after then i could fully begin editing on premire pro. The first thing that i done was adjust the colour of the picture to give off a blue/cool and dark tone to go with the intention and mood of the picture. After added a smiley face sticker on the top of the person’s face to symbolise them “putting on a fake face/faking it until they make it”. I done this by dragging the smiley face onto the persons face and using the eraser tool on the layer of the smiley face to get off the excess image, so it is just the smiley face. I also done the same thing for the mind logo and every mind matters logo i added on to the print ad. Afterwards, i then used the text tool to add the slogan “fake it until you make it” i made this text a yellow colour as it is opposite to blue physically and what it represents. After this, i then saved...

Production dairy (smile)

As this was all done in the space of one day,(as that is all what was needed)I feel as if I don't have that much to write about what happened and what I done. But for the production of smile, I firstly went to go and get the equipment needed. The equipment consisted of only a camera and tripod. I then went to go and get the person who will be featured in the shoot, we then went into the studio to begin shooting. Before I could do that, I set up the lighting firstly. After moving the lighting around a bit to try and get the best lighting, I then began taking pictures. I would then stop in between a few pictures and move the lighting around, I would do this so the pictures had different lighting so I can choose the best picture with the best lighting. But I also looked back at the pictures whilst in production so I could then make the changes to the lighting then and there. The main struggle was that I feel as if the lighting was either too bright or too dark and it was difficult to ...

peer feedback from print ad

Image
To get a better understand on how well my print ad would do, i conducted a survey on google forms to then send to my peers for them to complete. This was so i could reflect on what i done well and what i didn’t etc. Above are the results. As you can tell, the main, prominent feedback is that it would of been better if i didn’t do it last minute (which wasn’t down fully to my time management skills). Also i get the impression that my product would do well if it wasn’t for that as both peers say they would maybe take on my product if they worked for mind and the main prominent feedback is about it being rushed and not paying attention to detail. On top of this as well, they also said that my product both follows and challenges the codes and conventions of these types of print adverts and products that do that normally have a good engagement. Their reasonings for this is i followed them but the main thing i challenged was the colour scheme. Another predominant feedback point was the ...

Print advert for the smile campaign, evaluation, feedback reflection and skills development

Image
This is my print advert for the smile campaign run by mind. It is meant to represent how smiling helps improve your mental health  My smile project did not turn out as originally expected. This is due to things that i don't want to explain but however, i was still able to come up with a print advert for this campaign. The print advert consists of a low key lighting portrait photo that is edited to add more of a dark feel, a smiley face sticker, mind logo etc and a quote saying "fake it until you make it". This turned out better than i expected for such a short period of time turnaround but still isn't amazing. What i could of done better would of been if i had more time, would of been to plan out the lighting more as it didn't fully go to plan. Next time i will take time to fully plan out the project.   At the start of the project, i researched into the client and their needs. Then after, i researched into the target audience for this product. I achieved this by b...
