Finished canon project, evaluation, feedback reflection and skills development

Image
This is my finished Canon product, it is meant to represent how everyone is different, hence the "For whatever journey you take" quote.  The use of the bright colours is to represent uniqueness and also because bright colours draw you in.  How i achieved this was by pressing on colour range and then clicking on the part of the image i want to change colour. But as it only picks up shade and not an image, i had to adjust the fuzziness scale so it would minimise it down to only really the desired part of the image. If there was to much excess, i would just use the eraser tool on that layer after selecting the desired colour before clicking on solid layer > colour layer, but i thought it looked good if i left it a bit messy so i left some of it. To give it more of a 'messy effect', i also added layers with messed around saturation, brightness, colour tint etc. I then dragged one of the layers off the picture ever so lightly to add to the effect so it looks like there i...

Peer feedback from Canon print ad

Image
To receive peer feedback, I conducted a short survey on a google forms survey. This was so i have an idea on how well my print ad would do if it was released into the media. Here are the results: From looking at this feed back, I can see that this product would do well but it still needs a few more final touches such as a nicer font etc. But the feedback does seem mainly positive and the main comment on what seems to stand out about the print advert is how the bright colours were a good idea. This is good as it links to the earlier survey where I asked what draws people to print adverts and the main feedback was bright colours.

post production smile

After completing shooting the photo for my print advert, i then began editing. Firstly for this, i downloaded the picture from the sd card onto the computer. It was after then i could fully begin editing on premire pro. The first thing that i done was adjust the colour of the picture to give off a blue/cool and dark tone to go with the intention and mood of the picture. After added a smiley face sticker on the top of the person’s face to symbolise them “putting on a fake face/faking it until they make it”. I done this by dragging the smiley face onto the persons face and using the eraser tool on the layer of the smiley face to get off the excess image, so it is just the smiley face. I also done the same thing for the mind logo and every mind matters logo i added on to the print ad. Afterwards, i then used the text tool to add the slogan “fake it until you make it” i made this text a yellow colour as it is opposite to blue physically and what it represents. After this, i then saved...

Production dairy (smile)

As this was all done in the space of one day,(as that is all what was needed)I feel as if I don't have that much to write about what happened and what I done. But for the production of smile, I firstly went to go and get the equipment needed. The equipment consisted of only a camera and tripod. I then went to go and get the person who will be featured in the shoot, we then went into the studio to begin shooting. Before I could do that, I set up the lighting firstly. After moving the lighting around a bit to try and get the best lighting, I then began taking pictures. I would then stop in between a few pictures and move the lighting around, I would do this so the pictures had different lighting so I can choose the best picture with the best lighting. But I also looked back at the pictures whilst in production so I could then make the changes to the lighting then and there. The main struggle was that I feel as if the lighting was either too bright or too dark and it was difficult to ...

peer feedback from print ad

Image
To get a better understand on how well my print ad would do, i conducted a survey on google forms to then send to my peers for them to complete. This was so i could reflect on what i done well and what i didn’t etc. Above are the results. As you can tell, the main, prominent feedback is that it would of been better if i didn’t do it last minute (which wasn’t down fully to my time management skills). Also i get the impression that my product would do well if it wasn’t for that as both peers say they would maybe take on my product if they worked for mind and the main prominent feedback is about it being rushed and not paying attention to detail. On top of this as well, they also said that my product both follows and challenges the codes and conventions of these types of print adverts and products that do that normally have a good engagement. Their reasonings for this is i followed them but the main thing i challenged was the colour scheme. Another predominant feedback point was the ...

Print advert for the smile campaign, evaluation, feedback reflection and skills development

Image
This is my print advert for the smile campaign run by mind. It is meant to represent how smiling helps improve your mental health  My smile project did not turn out as originally expected. This is due to things that i don't want to explain but however, i was still able to come up with a print advert for this campaign. The print advert consists of a low key lighting portrait photo that is edited to add more of a dark feel, a smiley face sticker, mind logo etc and a quote saying "fake it until you make it". This turned out better than i expected for such a short period of time turnaround but still isn't amazing. What i could of done better would of been if i had more time, would of been to plan out the lighting more as it didn't fully go to plan. Next time i will take time to fully plan out the project.   At the start of the project, i researched into the client and their needs. Then after, i researched into the target audience for this product. I achieved this by b...

Post- production diary

07/02/2022 In this lesson, i started editing my smile print advert. I firstly uploaded my unintended picture onto Photoshop and then sized up the picture so it would fit the full screen by dragging it out. After that, i then began the editing process. I achieved this by adjusting the brightness/contrast levels by creating a new, adjustment layer and then selecting brightness/contrast and adjusting them. Another way i gave the photo the desired colour/shade, was by adding a colour layer over the top but not a fill colour as this would just be a solid colour. I went with a theme of darker and blue-er colours this is to mirror what the character is feeling in the print ad.  *Brightness/contrast layer* 08/02/2022 What i done this lesson was finish off the editing process for the advert. Since i completed the colour/lighting editing part of the picture, i then moved onto the main other part of it which was adding the other images/stickers/logos etc on top of the main picture. I placed t...

post production diary

1/2/22 I now started to edit my print advert for canon. I firstly imported the image on to Photoshop and then expanded the image so it taken up the entire screen. This is because i only want one main image for the print ad. After i then started the actual editing, i started with the bright colours and playing around with different ways to do it and what colours etc to see what i want. The main way i decided on editing in the bright colours was using select then clicking on colour selection and then created a new layer by clicking on layer, then solid layer and then colour layer. For next lesson, my aim is to continue editing the print advert.  *These pictures are from me editing the original photo that i was going to use* 4/2/22 In this lesson i edited more of the print advert. Today i continued on editing the colour by adding colour to more of the vehicles in the picture. As i wanted it to be a rough outline of the vehicles, any over spill that occurred due to the colour range vie...

smile campaign storyboard

I have created a storyboard for the smile campaign advert that i am producing. The premise of the story board was to capture key parts of the advert and then write about what is going on in each scene.

Production Diary (Canon)

Image
As this was all done in the space of 1hr give or take, I feel as if I don't have that much things that happened or that I done that I can write about. But firstly, in the production stage of Canon, I firstly had to retrieve the camera and get in the car as my idea for the photography side of things is to take pictures of traffic. As I was in the car from the South of Sunderland to Newcastle, I had a lot of opportunities to take pictures of traffic. In saying this, I took pictures of not just the same scene multiple times, but also of different places along my journey. I done this so I could have an abundance of different photographs with different scenes etc. Also as how this is of moving traffic, no two pictures are the same so this made it harder to get a specific "perfect" picture. But in a way, this added to the realness of it. As this was all done in the same day, I have slightly different lighting of each picture. But so now that I have all of these different pictur...

(Pre)Production diary

15/10/21 On this day, i started writing about the brief that has been given. The structure in this blog post was in the form of filling out questions. For the next lesson, i am aiming to complete the brief fully. 18/10/21 In this lesson, i completed the brief. This was also including questions about the client and existing products. After this, i need to complete an in-depth client research. 5/11/21 In this lesson, i started creating a client research for Canon. I started off by secondary researching and writing about the history of Canon and then moved it into the different products they have done. I then started talking about the campaigns and collabs they have done. 12/11/21 In this lesson, i finished off my client research for canon. I then created a survey of google docs to conduct primary research into the target audience, using both quantitative and qualitative question. Next Friday, in the next lesson, i will screenshot and analysis the results. 19/11/21 In this lesson, i looke...

PRINT (Flat plan, resource list, location scouting, health and safety, shooting schedule)

Image
I have filled out paperwork to help with the production of the images. The paperwork consists of  location scouting, health and safety, personnel list and equipment list. These all have different purposes but all link in together, I also created a flat plan.  The location scouting is so there is a visual, written down plan almost of where the location will be, how long you will stay there, is it interior/exterior etc.  The personnel list is to show who will take part in the production other than the photographer. Risk assessment part b is it show what the risk is and how you can prevent it.  The equipment and resource list is to have noted down what equipment is needed for the shoot. Risk assessment part a is to show what the risks are by ticking them off. I have created a flat plan for my print advert for Canon. This is so for when i create the product, i already have a plan of placement of where stuff is going.

Podcast production resources

The main resource that I used to record the sound was a microphone, connected to a  sound box, connected to a desktop using the garage band app. This was so I can then edit the sound later on.  Microphone The microphone that was available was a handheld microphone but I did not hold it so the noise would not get distorted off any breathing causing movements.  Soundbox The sound box was used to convert the microphone signals into a format the computer/software  recognises.  Desktop/Garage band/ Logic Pro The garage band's job in all of this was to record the audio that was coming from the microphone and so it would be saved, so I can edit it later. Even though I was not going to edit using this software, I still wanted it on there so I can then go and save it in my documents to then use on any computer and then begin the editing. I edited this podcast on Logic Pro, this is because it has more accessible options to edit sound. It is better to edit on a DAW (d...

Feedback from pitch

Image
      3. 2. 1. From the feedback i received, it shows that the main thing i have to do to improve is expand on the idea more and went into the specifics of the idea and how it will. I have taken on board the feedback from my peers and have improved on my rationale. I have done this by firstly adding more content to my power point, further explaining the narrative of the tv advert. I have also expanded my powerpoint by explaining the reasoning why i have chosen to take the tv advert in the direction i want to- as well as adding more detail to everything else. What i have learnt from this is to have more detail in the powerpoint instead of things just being brief.

Tattoo journeys collage

Image
This collage that i done is for the Canon journey project, it is symbolising someone's tattoo journey. Including both ideas and finished pieces, this was to show the journey of someone starting and going through their tattoo journey.

Peer feedback from Canon pitch

Image
For collecting feedback from my pitch, i have created a survey to primarily research into how the target audience will react to my product after it is finished. I also received feedback in the form of written out sentences. This is as the pitch is to showcase my ideas for the product. Here are the results: From receiving this feedback, i have learnt that this product will do well with my audience when it is produced. The main feedback i have is that the product is well thought out and detailed and it is good that there is an intended message behind it.
